What are the resource limits (Memory/CPU/Database Sizes) for the hosting packages?

Our hosting plans have certain limits on resource use on all services we provide. We want to make them very clear for all clients, so please read below for more information.

We are using a very modern (cloud based) approach to our hosting plans fees by basing the costs on your websites Memory, CPU and Database size requirements. This allows us to run extremely high performance and reliable services for all clients, whatever the size of the website.

The reason for these limits is simply that the more Memory, Database or CPU power a website needs, the more it costs us to run. As we can scale all of our services on demand with our cloud infrastructure we need to charge websites the appropriate amount based on their use.

For Memory (Physical RAM & Virtual RAM) and CPU this is set on a per website/application pool basis. Maximum database sizes are set per database for MySQL and MS SQL.

Standard Hosting Packages:

Memory allocations:

The maximum amount of memory allocated to each websites application pool is 200 MB.
Sites that reach that limit will have their application pool automatically recycled. This means any applications on the site will recompile themselves and sessions reset when the site is next visited.

CPU Limits:

If a websites application pool uses more than 50% of the web servers total CPU resources for more than 2 minutes then the site will have their application pool automatically recycled. This means any applications on the site will recompile themselves and sessions reset when the site is next visited.

This is purely a safety guard that ensures all other websites hosted on our web servers do not suffer if another site on the server is abused or has an unexpected spike in traffic/resource use.

Hitting CPU limits causes your website to return a 503 HTTP error status.

Database Size Limits:

The maximum MySQL or MS SQL database size for any databases running under these packages is 1GB. If a larger database is required then the option to upgrade to an Enterprise package will be provided.

File Limits:

The maximum amount of files allowed under one websites webspace is 10,000 files. If a larger number of files is required then the option to upgrade to an Enterprise package will be provided.

Reseller Hosting:

All websites under a reseller plans have the same limits as the Standard Hosting packages above with one exception. The exception is that all websites under a reseller account may have a maximum limit of 1GB of webspace allowed for each website. If more than 1GB of disk space is used by an individual website then options are available to move the website to its own hosting account with more allocated disk space.

Enterprise Hosting:

Memory allocations:

The memory limits for these packages is shown on our website:
http://www.winserve.co.uk/enterprise_hosting

Database Size Limits:

The maximum MySQL or MS SQL database size for any databases running under Enterprise packages is set depending on the package you choose and can be seen on the Enterprise page on our website.

CPU Limits:

We do not currently have any CPU limits on our Enterprise packages.

These Enterprise packages are designed for websites with large RAM, CPU or database requirements. This is ideal for things like DotNetNuke and other resource hungry ASP.NET applications or websites with large MS SQL or MySQL requirements.

If you are having problems with application pools recycling too often, or a slow website application please contact support. We will check your sites current resource use and advise you on the best solution which may include upgrading to an Enterprise package.

File Limits:

We allow more than 10,000 files to be hosted on our Enterprise hosting packages. However, we require all clients to keep a maximum of 10,000 files under each directory/folder. If you need to host more than 10,000 files then ensure they are spread out between multiple sub folders. Please contact support if you want more information on that subject.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

If you are confused by any of the above, please contact us here. We will answer any questions you have and can diagnose your website and requirements to provide you with the most cost effective plan or custom solution.
